Breaking World News: Widespread Drought in the Tropics

The United Nations of Javafanoodle is reporting on a growing natural disaster that concerning all nations from the Tropic of Cancer south to the Tropic of Capricorn. These tropical nations have been suffering now for months. The Meteorological Society of Javafanoodle is reporting severe lack of rain in the nations highlighted on the map. These areas have experienced wildfires, major losses of crops and livestock, and significant human suffering due to lack of food and heat exhaustion. The health and economic implications of this drought could be devastating for countries already struggling to make ends meet. The future weather predictions are grim in the area as we head into the warmest time of year in Javafanoodle.

Large-scale humanitarian efforts are being organized as this article goes to print. The needs are great and varied. Irrigation, food supplies, technology, and peacekeeping support are all needed in these dire times. Nations of Javafanoodle, now is the time to respond to the needs of your fellow man, not as one country or political structure but as compassionate humans. Breaking News: 1st Meeting of the United Nations of Javafanoodle Minutes

Today, April 4th, 2014 is the first meeting of the United Nations of Javafanoodle. The nations will present themselves and react to the different news taking place in their country. This post will include the minutes of that meeting.

-Penguia: Seeking safe harbor for immigrants because of overpopulation.
-Thymeophira: Concerned about aggressive threats from Braziliana
-Slopolis: Large ships surrounding islands
-New Marines & Eaglelands: Have established a friendly relationship fighting spaghetti monsters
-Sungbai: Concerned about deforestation due to large fires in the mid section of country
-Braziliana: Seeking solutions to her overpopulation of unemployed citizens due to industrial expansion
-Brooksopolis: Who is operating the 1 billion dollar water-sucker? What are these people drinking now?
-Magillia: Massive snow/ice storm. Concerns about climate change across the equatorial region... Brooksopolis has offered to sell a water sucker, Thymeophira offers aid
-Maskarada: Has small crime issues, but maintains the nukes are only for protection... this remains disputed
-Alostria: Is ready to accept any immigrants. Asks about unclaimed land...what does this mean?
-Infinitopia: Project Omega remains a secret... seeking immigrants for building military
-Eaglelands: unusual astronimic activity... interesting, suspicious
-Bosstrallia: Alliance intact. Concerned about stalker intentions of Maskarada

March 28th: Breaking News

Today:

  1. Create a new post on your blog and write a summary paragraph to the people of your nation clarifying the state of your relationships around the world. Give them a clear picture of who your Friends & Foes are and why. Take care to use correct grammar, punctuation and capitalization!
  2. Open Word. Begin writing your Breaking News story that we discussed in class yesterday. Type it in word, so that you have access to grammar and spell check. Once you are done, show it to Mrs. Cusick.
  3. Upon Mrs. Cusick's approval, cut and paste the story into a new post on your blog.
  4. Before publishing, find a picture from the internet that goes along with your news story. Paste it into your story and publish.
